Getting to this point wasn't easy

When we first started in real estate we couldn’t qualify for a foreclosed bank-owned property in


When we started out trying to buy a property, we thought we were prepared.

We walked into the bank ready to buy our first home! After completing the paperwork and providing the required documents the loan officer gave us devastating news.

We didn’t qualify.

We couldn’t qualify for a foreclosed bank-owned manufactured home for $65,000. It was devasting to hear this, we just had our daughter and needed the extra room.

👉After hearing this, we went to work to get our credit right, and found different ways to increase our income and pay down our debt. Two and a half years later, we purchased our first home.

That was in September 2013.

Sometimes doing it on your own isn’t the best idea for your sanity or pockets. We learned the hard way so you don’t have to.


Fast forward 2 years later, we were ready to purchase our second home. This time we decided to move to an entirely different state.

We were ready to now have our first rental property. So we took matters into our own hands. We marketed the property, reviewed applications, and chose a seemingly loving family to move in.

We made the fatal mistake of not checking references and went with our “gut” feeling. After a year the family stopped paying rent, trashed the house, and left us with an infestation of roaches.

BUT THEN

the unthinkable happened

Within one year of becoming landlords

😔 IT COSTS US BIG TIME! 😔

❌ We were now $16,000 in debt, to close in 24 hours on our second home... ❌

❌ We paid thousands in renovation costs... ❌

❌ Stuck paying two mortgages... ❌

So we did what any novice investor would do: we sold our house for less than it was worth because we were bleeding money. 😭

The silver lining… we still walked away with a PROFIT after we sold our first home.

We realized real estate had more benefits than just providing a home, you can’t “mess up”, and you can [almost] always sell to put money in your pocket.
